Online delivery is available in lockdown
The Government of India once again extends lockdown amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country but this time, there is some good news for consumer technology. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allowed e-commerce platforms to start selling goods non-essential during the third lockdown, which means we could be shopping for a new smartphone, laptop, and other electronic goods. However, the provisions apply in this case.
Under the guidelines of the MHA, the sale of non-essential items through the e-commerce platforms will only be allowed in areas where cases COVID-19 were absent or rare. The Government stated that the e-commerce platform will be able to provide non-essential items only in areas that have been marked under the orange and green zones. For the red zone, the restrictions still apply, which means that if you are in Delhi under the red zone, you will not benefit from anything.
That said, MHA said that the postal and courier services will be active in all areas.
With the delivery of the goods of non-essential is allowed, it will benefit those who have long wanted to go shopping for a new cell phone or laptop. Earlier in April, the government permitted the delivery of essential goods through e-commerce platform but non-essential items are still banned. Therefore, Amazon and Flipkart stop sales of smartphones and laptops.

Do note that new regulations for the period of the third lockdown allow only to purchase goods from the non-essential online platform. The government has not clarified whether brick-and-mortar could start selling apps phones and laptops in the green zone.
Flipkart has resumed sales of smartphones in India. The E-commerce giant has been limited to selling goods essential only after PM Modi announced a nationwide lockdown on March 25. However, the Indian government recently approved the sale of the smartphone online in India and has opened its Flipkart phone category to order. The company said that the
mobile apps category is open in India, except for West Bengal and Karnataka. Flipkart phone's list of categories such as Realme 6, Realme 6 Pro, Motorola Razr, Poco X2, iQoo 3, and many more.
The E-commerce platform has a new banner on the application confirming that they are now accepting orders smartphones. Although users can now buy a smartphone, shipping will only begin from April 20, according to government directives. Flipkart offers complete protection of mobile, without the cost of EMI, and guarantees the purchase back to the buyer on the platform. Phone from Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi listed online. Both applications now have a website Flipkart and the phone category is open for purchase.
Flipkart said that users in all countries should be able to see the phone category, apart from West Bengal and Karnataka, where service has not returned yet. At the time of writing, Amazon does not open the smartphone category for the book.
